After a wet and miserable Silverstone round we were looking forward to the final race of the season at Oulton. We went into the event in second place in the Championship, two points behind Pat McDougall.
The weather was bright and as Dan had consistently ridden faster than McDougall we were confident of the Championship win.
For some reason the organisers set up three practice sessions and one qualifying session. Practice went OK but but the engine failed ion qualifying while Dan was building up speed. This meant we were towards the back of grid, behind our rivals for the Championship.
We were still confident...all we had to do was beat McDougall!
From 33rd position on the grid Dan completed the first lap of the race in 26th place. By lap four he was in 20th, just three places behind McDougal. Then at the beginning of lap five the bike cut out. Dan coasted to a halt but the electrics cut back in and he rejoined the race at the back of the field. There was too much work to be done. Dan Gained some places but his finish behind McDougall meant we finished second in the Championship.
We had high hopes so we were all disappointed but second position in the championship, two wins, two seconds and a third wrapped up an impressive first season in the Supersport Cup.
